In Austria, although not the case in Germany, it is always polite to greet people in public, even complete strangers.In Singapore, topics that are acceptable to discuss are travel experiences, news of countries visited, and economic advances in Singapore. Topics to avoid in conversation include religion and politics. And never make humorous remarks about the food being served.
In Sweden, discussions may range over many different topics, but criticism of Swedish culture or politics should be avoided.
